Bug-ingham Palace

On Monday and Tuesday this week we completed our minibeast topic. We designed and made a special bug house for the minibeasts in our outside area.

Everyone had a tin can to make a 'room' for a bug then we created a class 'hotel'.

The children have really enjoyed competing in the football tournament and today was the final and the winners were... HULL CITY! A huge well done to all the children who took part, showing great teamwork and sportsmanship.

Local history and geography week.

This week we have been learning about our local area, focusing on farming and nutrition. On Tuesday we had a visit from Alfie's mum and dad who talked to us about farming in East Anglia. They explained the very careful process of growing carrots. We tried carrots of different colours and also sampled some very tasty sausages.

We also had a look at the importance of healthy eating and balanced nutrition and planned our own healthy lunchboxes. We designed and tasted a 5-a-day smoothie, learnt a rap to remind us to eat five fruit and vegetables a day and created some fruit faces based on the work of Giuseppe Archimboldo. On Thursday we were also lucky enough to have a visit from Bethany's dad and his tractor. We all got to go inside the cab and ask him questions.

Finally, this morning we had a visit from the Norfolk Records Office and found out lots of interesting facts about Bressingham over one hundred years ago.

Potatoes and lots of fun learning through play in the sun!

One of our 100 memorable events is to eat something you have grown. A couple of months ago we planted our potatoes and today we had great fun digging them up. Ninety eight potatoes in total! I hope you enjoy eating them. We also had great fun exploring our brand new mud kitchen and new refurbished sandpit. A lovely sunny Friday afternoon!

Only One You

This week the children have been spending some time with their new class. Hedgehogs both new and old listened to the delightful story 'Only One You'. They used this as a stimulus to create their own beautiful painted stones. I was most impressed with the artwork which is now on display in our outdoor area. I promised the children I would put their artwork on the blog for all to see, so here it is...
