Black History Day

Today we remembered Black History week. We worked with every class in mixed year groups. It was lovely to see everyone helping each other during our morning activities.

Our focus was on Nelson Mandela and we looked at some of his very inspiring quotes.

We learnt that, in the past, black people had to live a life of slavery and were not treated equally.

In Hedgehog and Rabbit class we learned about Freedom Quilts that were used to send secret messages about planning a journey to freedom.

We made a whole school quilt using various materials including felt sewing, printing and colouring.

We got together at the end of the day and shared our exciting work and sang all together 'Free Nelson Mandela'.

Toasting marshmallows

As one of our 100 memorable events, today we had a fire and toasted marshmallows.

 It was fantastic!

We sang songs around our campfire too.

Rangoli patterns

We have been learning about the Hindu festival of Diwali. Last week the children produced some excellent mendhi patterns and today in groups they created some outstanding Rangoli patterns. Do take a look...

Harvest Festival

Today the whole school went to Bressingham Church to celebrate Harvest time.

We sang hymns and heard some interesting parables being read.

Then it was our turn to sing 'The farmer plants the seeds' and 'I dig my garden'. We sounded great!

Many food donations were collected for the Diss food bank. Thank you!
